Enviroment & Sustainability

Tuna is one of world`s most popular fish both in terms of Popular Culture and Modern Cusine. Sushi bars all across Tuna_Steak_01big cities and towns around the globe usually put Tuna on top menus of the house. On the other side canning industry spent millons of € in marketing their products with brands like Rio Mare and others. But their marketing is soemhow misleading too focusing on Yellow Fin Tuna and convincing buyers this is top Tuna available whereas in truth it’s actually quite the opposite. And other side effect is overfishing of Yellow Fin and selling other, better Tuna species under this name.

Here is a quality rang top to bottom of Tuna species: Blue Fin, Albacora (White Tuna), Big Eye, Yellow Fin, Skip Jack

While Blue Fin is most know as fresh or sashimi grade (-60 C) most other Tuna products today enter market as Tuna_Can_01refreshed products. Refreshed Tuna is caught on special Vessels and frozen to -30 C immediately thus keeping quality and extremely low histamine levels. Once in processing plant, cold storage and transports, meaning whole product chain, product is never defrosted until served to end customer in Fish Market.

Tabala offers White Tuna and Big Eye, processed either as Loins, Stakes or Canned and tailor packed to buyer’s needs, either vacuum, bulk, IQF etc.

Each spieces is available with MSC (http://www.msc.org/) and FOS (http://www.friendofthesea.org/) and knowTuna_Loin origin and fishing method. We can also offer Pole & Line caught products.
